The Mental GameSOMETHING TO THINK ABOUTSuccess builds confidenceConfidence makes success Too much confidence makes you sloppy Defeat builds desire, but we set limits to our desires, when nature has set none. Always remember, don’t limit your goals. You can achieve anything you want, if you want it bad enough. You must practice mental focus, not just shoot. You must block out distractions and negative thoughts. Always have a positive outlook. Trick the conscious mind by thinking one thing (like look at the target), And let the subconscious take over and do the work. Don’t look for something magic, The only magic is hard work, determination, and attention to detail. A MENTAL PLANBlock everything out including fellow competitors, ref’s, noisy spectators and most of all internal self-talk.Awareness of technique in competition is a distraction, as by pushing technique thoughts out of your head, you are trusting that your body and mind will deliver what you need at the time you need it. You must stop yourself from thinking and force yourself to trust the skills you’ve been practicing. This is the prerequisite to performing subconsciously. Get out of your own way and let it happen. |
